THE LOGOS OF THE SOUL
by EVANGELOS CHRISTOU
With a preface by JAMES HILLMAN
Paperback original, $20
112 pages, second edition
ISBN-10: 0-88214-561-4
ISBN-13: 978-0-88214-561-7
SUBJECT: Psychology/Philosophy
This book by the philosopher and psychologist Evangelos Christou (who studied with Wittgenstein in Cambridge and with Jung in Zurich) outlines a fundamental logic for psychotherapy that is distinct from that of the natural sciences or philosophy. He proves that psychotherapy has its own legitimate area of activity and that its rights are based on the soul.
"The problem which the author attacks in this monograph is the most difficult in psychology . . . because it takes up first principles, the very method by means of which any psychological investigation can be carried on at all."

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF ABORTION
by GINETTE PARIS
Paperback original, $18 72 pages, second edition

SUBJECT: Archetypal Psychology/Feminism
Issues of life and death, love and responsibility are at the core of every religion. That is why the English translation of this book was originally published with the title THE SACRAMENT OF ABORTION, as it shows that the decision to abort may also spring from a religious feeling that it is the "right" thing to do, both physically and spiritually: "Abortion is about love, life, and death."

PHILOSOPHY AND RELIGION by F.W.J. SCHELLING
Translated by Klaus Ottmann
Paperback original, $20
112 pages
ISBN-10: 0-88214-593-2
ISBN-13: 978-0-88214-593-8
SUBJECT: Philosophy/Religion
The first ever translation into English language of an important early work of the German idealist philosopher F.W.J. Schelling.
PHILOSOPHY AND RELIGION (1804) is considered a precursor to Schelling's major work on freedom, his PHILOSOPHICAL INQUIRIES INTO THE NATURE OF HUMAN FREEDOM (1809). In PHILOSOPHY AND RELIGION, Schelling raises the question how philosophy can come to terms with the failure of approaching the highest principle of being, the Absolute (or God), rationally. He argues that the only possibility to recognize the Absolute lies in intellectual intuition, which goes beyond presentiment or religious intuition. For Schelling, it is the task of philosophy to lead the soul towards the intuition of the Infinite: "All philosophy begins . . . with an animated idea of the Absolute."
In recent years, Schelling's philosophical ideas have been adopted by contemporary thinkers such as the Slovenian philosopher and psychoanalytic theorist Slavoj Zizek and the French theorist of "non-philosophy," François Laruelle.
